The Emperor

The Emperor is the fifth card in the Major Arcana and it’s numbered 4. The Emperor looks quite stern sitting on his throne but don't be put off by this. He can actually be a fatherly figure who would defend you in your time of need. The throne in this illustration shows four carved goat's heads which I believe represent the north, south east and west of The Emperor's kingdom. As a ruler he sees all but in the illustration he is looking sideways. He is a wise man who will not let anger cloud his judgement. In times of need he thinks outside the box to solve a problem.

If you are seeking a solution to a question you could try to think like The Emperor. Take control but don't be angry or controlling. Act with calmness and fairness and remember, the obvious solution isn't always the way to go. If you are seeking an answer about someone else then The Emperor could be an indication that you need to give them a guiding hand and take the lead.

There are times when all of us feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself. The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more information visit our Rider Waite page.
