The Hierophant

The Hierophant is the sixth card in the Major Arcana and it’s numbered 5. The card shows the hierophant seated on high with his devotees kneeling before him. He wears a rich red robe and his expression is one of wisdom. He is teaching his devotees and his job is to explain the sacred mysteries and to draw the congregants into that which is holy.

If you have drawn this card in a reading then it's opening a path for you to travel either spiritually or intellectually. Perhaps you are considering embarking on a course of study or you are exploring ideas of a spiritual or a religious nature. This card tells you that you will find the answers you seek. If the problem or question is immediate then you need to stand back a little and take a break. Do something completely different and open up your mind. When you return you'll find the answers. In the longer term the signs look good for you to begin your studies. Go for it while you have the opportunity.

There are times when all of us feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself. The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more information visit our Rider Waite page.
