The Lovers

The Lovers is the seventh card in the Major Arcana and it’s numbered six. The illustration on the card is dramatic and all embracing as an angel smiles down on a naked man and woman. Blessings are heaped on them but behind the woman we can see an apple tree with a serpent.

The Lovers is significant for two people who are soul mates. They need not necessarily be lovers in the sexual sense but they feel very deeply for one another. In a reading The Lovers can represent a difficult choice that we have to make. Do we follow the course that others would have us choose or do we stick to our principles? The choice is up to you. You must do what you feel is right for you deep inside. If you choose one course and a little voice is nagging you that it's wrong or you feel uncomfortable in any way then you will know what to do. Your guardian angel may well help you at this time. The serpent in the tree is clearly a symbol of temptation, but only you can decide whether to resist temptation or whether to throw caution to the winds. Whatever you think you may do just sleep on your decision and don't be too hasty.

There are times when all of us feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself. The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more information visit our Rider Waite page.
