The Tower
The Tower
is the seventeenth card in the Major Arcana and it’s numbered sixteen. The
dramatic illustration shows a man and a woman falling head first from the tower
as lightning strikes. In the image a crown is stripped away from the top of the
tower.
At first glance you might be a bit worried if you drew this card in a reading.
It seems to symbolise some sort of unavoidable disaster. I would urge you to
look again and think more deeply about this card. The tower itself could well
have a significance in your life. Is there any area in which you have gone out
on a limb or set yourself up in an ivory tower? If so then maybe it's time to
take stock and include others a bit more. Perhaps you are in a position of
power in an organisation or a club. What this card is telling you is that you
must not set yourself up to be indispensable. It's all very well saying, "If
you want something done, do it yourself," but you have to trust others some of
the time. If you don't take action and change things then you may find that
change comes along by itself. Bear in mind that The Tower is generally a symbol
for a change or upheaval in your life. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but
it could take you by surprise. I would urge you to embrace the change and
understand that it was necessary for you to find a different way. One of the
main messages in the tower is that whatever happens it happens for a good reason
and that your life will take a turn for the better even though it may not seem
so at the time.

There are times when all of us feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself. The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more information visit our
