The Five of Wands

The Five of Wands is all about battles. In the illustration you can see five
young men each wielding a wand and apparently trying to knock seven bells out of
each other. The landscape looks barren and there's little to distract them
from their disagreement. This is what happens when you don't have enough
to occupy you. Sometimes your life turns into daily round of doing battle.
Sometimes you seem to be at odds with all the people around you and at other
times you're doing battle with domestic appliances, unruly animals, machinery,
the garden, in fact anything you can think of that might cause you some
frustration.
If you look again at the illustration the
characters are not really intent on serious injury, none of them looks murderous
and none of them is actually injured. The five of wands represents your
daily irritations rather than the huge "I'm never speaking to you again," sort
of rows.
If you've drawn this card in a reading then
it's a sign that you need to calm down a bit, take stock and deal with your
worries systematically without getting too upset. Look at it this way.
Life's problems are often thrown at us because we need to learn a lesson.
If something goes wrong or someone falls out with you ask yourself what you can
learn from the experience and move on. The worst thing you can do is to
brood.
Another interpretation of the Five of Wands that it
represents a competitive activity such as a sport or a game. It may mean
that you need to put in some more training or you may need to size up the
opposition again and find out exactly what you have to do. Healthy
competition is fine but don't get so obsessed that it takes over your life and
makes you miserable. You may not come out on top all the time but you are
supposed to be enjoying yourself and having a bit of fun as well.

Your daily tarot card
There are times when all of us
feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure
about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see
things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is
drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition
and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible
light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card
for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself.
The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily
available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more
information visit our
Rider Waite page.
