The Ten of Swords

Oh dear oh dear!  The Ten of Swords is another one of those cards that look very scary at first glance.  A man is lying face down on a beach and he has ten swords sticking in his back.  It's night time and he's alone.  With the best will in the world this man is in a predicament from which there doesn't seem to be any escape.  Whatever is he going to do?  He will surely die out there.

As with all the tarot cards, however, the illustration is highly symbolic. In this case the Ten of Swords represents the feeling that you are a victim.  The card is very dramatic but that's because it's symbolic of the way that you perceive your situation.  It seems as if everyone is on your case the whole time and you're beginning to feel very hard done by.  There must have been a lot of times recently when you've thought it's not fair.  It doesn't happen to anyone else so why does it have to happen to you?  If you've had a real tragedy then this is not going to apply to you, but you will know if this is one of those times and you will be dealing with it on your own way.

The Ten of Swords is actually a bit lighter than that.  When you're bemoaning your fate and complaining to everyone who will listen or who can't escape, this card is reminding you to hold back for a moment and stop playing the drama queen.  Other people have misfortunes but they bear them with grace and fortitude.  If you have a tendency to be a bit of a martyr then it's your own fault if people go off and have fun and leave you out.  No-one likes being made to feel guilty when they haven't done anything wrong.

The Ten of Swords is reminding you to lighten up a bit.  If your troubles are minor ones try to engage yourself with something that you enjoy and make sure that other people find you a great person to be with.  You'll be surprised at what a difference it makes and how much better you feel.

Your daily tarot card
There are times when all of us feel that we need some guidance in life, especially when we feel unsure about the path we're taking. A daily tarot card can often help you to see things a bit more clearly. There is no magic in this. What you are doing is drawing on your inner resources and strength. You are using your intuition and the illustration on the card to help you to see things in every possible light. I find that rather than relying on a computer to draw the daily card for me it's best to have an actual deck that I can draw a card from myself. The deck I'm using here is the Universal Rider Waite deck which is easily available online. Some of the auctions are shown below, or for more information visit our Rider Waite page.
