Rider Waite Tarot Cards
The Rider Waite tarot cards are one of the biggest selling decks of all time and they are often the first tarot cards that you will buy. The deck was first published in England in 1909, and printed by William Rider & Son, London. The original design of the cards was by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite. According to some acounts, Aleister Crowley also had some input.
The book that was written to accompany the Rider Waite tarot deck is probably not the best for a beginner and it is a little hard to understand. However, there are many excellent tarot courses and books available which are based on the Rider Waite deck. If you’re looking for your first tarot cards then the Rider Waite Universal deck is the one that is most commonly purchased by beginners.
If you are an experienced tarot reader then you may well find something of interest in this section. Some of the Rider Waite decks come complete with a lovely wooden box which is ideal for keeping your tarot cards safe from harmful influences.
